🚨 IF YOU SLIDE OFF THE ROAD

Make sure you’re safe first
Turn on hazard lights
Stay inside the vehicle if traffic is nearby
If you smell fuel or feel unsafe, get away from the vehicle immediately and call 911
Your safety > the car. Always.
Do NOT spin your tires
Spinning digs you deeper into the ditch
It can damage the transmission and axles
On ice, it almost never works
This mistake makes recovery harder and more expensive.
Get out and assess (only if safe)
Is the car upright?
Are wheels off the ground?
Is it leaking fluids?
Are you blocking traffic?
If the car is angled or unstable, don’t touch it.
Call a professional tow company
Even without insurance, you still have options:
Ask for a cash price
Ask if they can pull it to the shoulder or to your safe location.
Be honest about the situation
A proper recovery often costs less than the damage caused by DIY attempts.
